Thermocouples: Formed by fusing the ends of two dissimilar alloy conductors to create a closed loop; heating the junction generates a thermoelectric potential signal, which the temperature controller converts into a temperature reading.
Common types: K-type (most widely used), J-type, T-type, E-type. Configurations include: sheathed thermocouples, hot runner plate-style thermocouples, manifold probe thermocouples, explosion-proof thermocouple heads, and spring-loaded thermocouples.
Temperature range: -200°C to 1300°C; primarily used for high-temperature measurement with fast response times; suitable for molds, heating elements, and high-temperature furnaces.
RTDs: Measure temperature based on the linear change in resistance of platinum (Pt) elements; the PT100 has a fixed resistance of 100Ω at 0°C, offering stable signals and extremely high precision.
Types: Sheathed PT100, surface-mount (patch), probe-style, and flange-mount.
Temperature range: -200°C to 450°C; suited for precision measurement in low-to-medium temperature ranges.
High-temperature applications (hot runners, electric furnaces, high-temp heating equipment) → Thermocouples; Precision constant-temperature equipment, low-temp piping, precision lab equipment → PT100 RTDs.
Applications for Thermocouples and RTDs:
1. Injection molding & hot runner industry (Core customer base)
Temperature monitoring for hot nozzles and manifolds; used with spring heaters or heating rods for closed-loop temperature control to resolve issues such as unstable gate temperatures, plastic carbonization, and product discoloration.
2. Machining and mold industry
Real-time temperature monitoring for die-casting molds, vulcanization molds, extrusion dies, and blow molds.
3. Chemical, energy, and pipeline industries
Temperature monitoring for media in liquid and gas pipelines, tank heating monitoring, and temperature detection in explosion-proof environments.
4. Medical, food, and precision automation equipment
Food drying lines, medical heating equipment, and laboratory constant-temperature equipment; utilizing PT100 sensors for high-precision temperature control.
5. Metallurgy and heat treatment furnaces
Long-term temperature monitoring in high-temperature quenching furnaces and sintering furnaces using K-type sheathed thermocouples. Based on customer-provided hot runner drawings, operating temperatures, installation methods, and temperature controller models, we offer free recommendations regarding model specifications, lead lengths, and probe dimensions to prevent issues such as inaccurate temperature readings and signal drift. We provide fully customizable options—including various tube diameters, lengths, lead wire lengths, bent configurations, explosion-proof heads, flanges, and mounting threads—and offer rapid prototyping for small-batch orders. We supply integrated packages combining thermocouples or PT100 sensors with various heaters, allowing customers to source the complete heating and temperature-sensing assembly from a single supplier and thereby reduce procurement costs.
